September 2021 TEA News

Now that Fall is upon us, we wanted to share some of the things we’ve been up to over since launching in March.

What We’ve Been Working On

Hong Kong Palace Museum

The Hong Kong Palace Museum is set to open in July 2022. We provided technical and interpretive guidance on a wide range of media projects for eight of the galleries that are currently under construction. This included over thirty interactives, sound installations, large scale projections, introductory media, and contextual videos. We advised on media solutions and best practices for creating rich and meaningful visitor experiences.

Australian National Maritime Museum

The Australian National Maritime Museum shares the national maritime story across Australia and explores the country’s connection to the sea. As part of the museum’s digital transformation efforts we worked with them to help define roles and responsibilities for a new digital leadership position.

Boston Green Ribbon Commission

The Boston Green Ribbon Commission (GRC) is a non-profit organization that exists to support the City of Boston in their climate action goals. We’ve been working with the GRC since the start of the year to manage, mobilize, and create content for their Cultural Institutions Working Group–composed of more than thirty-five of Boston’s most public facing cultural entities, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Science, the New England Aquarium, and the Boston Red Sox. We are proud to be leading the charge in helping museums and other cultural institutions tackle mitigation and resilience efforts as well as talk to their audiences about the existential threat of climate change through creative and unconventional means.

Texas Association of Museums

The Texas Association of Museums (TAM) is helping Texas museums move forward in the current environment through their Finding Alternative Futures Phase 2 (FAF2) program. We are working with TAM on supporting FAF2 by writing a series of blog posts and white papers over the course of twelve months that address digital readiness and technologies that can help museums engage, and themes of the FAF2 program like operational capacity and continuity, digital-savvy leadership, online programming, and community engagement. Ed has been named their scholar in residence, and the first post is already up.

Cool Things We’ve Seen

Creative Partners News

On one of the hottest days in late summer, we gathered together a group of our fantastic Creative Partners for our first in person meeting since TEA launched in March 2021. We met up at the newly opened Alchemy (fitting, isn’t it?) in Lynnfield and caught up over drinks, snacks, and good conversation. A few exciting developments to highlight from this extraordinary group of people:

Bianca spent most of July supporting an incredible crop of artists in the creation of PangeaSeed’s Boston Sea Walls murals in Eastie. Don’t wait to go check them out!

Jonathan’s newest cookbook, A Simple Summer: A Recipe for Joy and Connection, is now available!

Samantha released her latest EP I Guess We Live Here Now in April and is currently on tour in the United Kingdom for much of September and October.

Halsey and Fran Panetta’s amazing work In Event of Moon Disaster was nominated for two Webby Awards, the Ars Electronica STARTS Prize, and won an Emmy! How is that for an exciting couple of months!

Maria and her collaborative partner, Jean Laurenz, released a hauntingly beautiful album, Descended, on September 24th. Be sure to check out the accompanying art film as well!

Kellian has an awesome new job at Fablevision as Director of GLAM.

Kelsey is killing it doing multimedia work for the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum’s upcoming renovation.

New Office – Come Visit!

On September 1st, TEA opened its first office in a beautiful converted Victorian in downtown Waltham at 40 Crescent Street. It is cozy but we’ve definitely got room for visitors. And you can’t beat Moody Street for lunch or after work drinks. Come on down anytime!
